SriKrishna Gaarudi is an interesting watch.  An out and out entertainer with Dr. Raj Kumar in the role of Arjuna.  Good acting by Narasimharaju as well. Some of the special effects seem good even by today's time.  Some memorable songs by PB Srinivas and Ghantashaala and good music by Pandyala.

Essentially this is a mythological entertainer.  The setting is in Hastinapur post the Mahabharat war.  The pandava brothers Bhima and Arjuna feel slighted by Krishna and this hurts their egos no end.  However their vanity is stuck a huge blow when Krishna decides to teach them a lesson with his illusory powers.  In the end all is well that ends well with the lessons learnt,  though with egos bruised.  One more feather in Hunsur Krishna Murthy's cap who is the Director besides also writing the lyrics, dialogues and the screenplay

Sandalwood ...fragrance regained

One wonders how the name Sandalwood came to be associated with the Kannada film industry.  Probably the growing of Sandalwood in South Karnataka and the location of the Kannada film industry in Gandhinagar in Bangalore has something to do with it.....whatever the reasons are the name sits well.  Kannada films which were once remade into other languages and were unique in their treatment of different themes  have to once again regain their lost glory and become like the Sandalwood after which the industry has been now  popularly called.  Will need some doing.  Not to forget other Southern film industries are facing similar problems....
